Blue Metropolis’ Literary Events: Spring 2017 Festival!
Back by popular demand, Festival Bloomsday Montréal will be participating in three events in this year’s Blue Metropolis Spring 2017 Festival. Celebrating 19 years of love for all things literary, the festival takes place between April 24 and April 30, 2017 at various locations around Montreal.
If you’ve been wondering about who we are now’s the chance to come out and meet us, and see why we love the works of James Joyce so much. Not a fan of Joyce? No problem. We’ve got you covered with a walking tour of the Irish in Montreal. And all of our events are catered towards both newbies and know-it-all’s, so don’t be a stranger—everyone’s Joyce.
Puzzles? Enigmas? Riddles? Music? The Egyptian Book of the Dead? The Book of Kells? Quantum physics? What do these things have in common? Unlock the secret at Blue Metropolis as we explore more mysteries and conundrums in Finnegans Wake. April 27, 2017 at 5:30 PM, Salle Executive, Hotel 10.
The event will last 90 minutes and will be led by Kevin Wright. It’s a fantastic opportunity to be introduced to one of the most difficult books ever written in the English language. You do not need to bring a copy of the book.
This walking tour, which starts at the Old Dublin Pub, explores the history of the Irish in Montreal. The tour visits historic Irish sites, including churches, watering holes, the ruins of a refuge and forgotten areas such as Little Dublin and Paper Hill. To be revealed: the Bloomsday connection between James Joyce’s Ulysses and Montreal! Meeting Point: Old Dublin Pub, 636 Cathcart St.
Donovan King is a professional actor and will be leading the tour. An extremely popular event so make sure to register soon. No Joyce love or knowledge required!
The ‘Ithaca’ passage of Ulysses: 309 questions and answers. Boring? Not this actors’ presentation where media mavens take part in the most interesting news conference ever. The Ulysses group will by led by our troupe of players: Susan Gilmore Lombard, Ian Cuthbertson, Louise Chalmers, Christina Giffen, and Victor Molina.
