Spring has been busy, and there was lots to see and do! Blue Met was a smash success. We rolled out a brand new, nearly three hour walking tour that all of our guests loved. Donovan King thrilled all of us with his wonderful stories and performance.
Our Finnegans Wake reading lead us on to page two of the text. Perhaps next year we’ll get to page three. But you don’t have to wait that long to see us again. Our reading group is accepting new members. All you need to do is show up on the third Wednesday of the month at 7pm at the Westmount Public library. Bring a copy of the book; we’re on page 26.
Finally, we presented a press conference from the “Ithaca” chapter of Ulysses. The press was on point, no alternative facts here! Everything you may have wanted to know about the novel, but didn’t, is given to the reader in minutiae in the form of hundreds of questions and answers. The actors gave a fast and hilarious performance of some of the best questions and answers. It was also a great introduction to people who weren’t familiar with the text—it offers a great chance to experience the Joycean effect without having to invest in reading the epic novel.

Both leaders emphasized the long-standing relationship between the two countries, mentioning in particular the fact that Canada had accepted thousands of refugees fleeing the Great Famine of the 1840’s and its striking similarity to the current international refugee crisis.
